White Star
White Star was one of the most prominent and well-known First Wave Metas, due largely to the fact that he was one of the very few adults who were affected by the Jupiter Effect, and therefore one of the very first Metas ever to be recognized by the public. His known powers included superhuman strength and invulnerability, as well as self-powered flight.
A professed patriot, White Star adopted his code name to represent the stars on the American flag. As a shining symbol of the patriotic hero, White Star worked for and with the government tirelessly, using his metahuman powers to uphold justice and freedom, to fight crime and to help those in need. His early career primarily focused on disaster relief and battling criminal elements, but as other metahumans began to make their presence known, White Star's focus gradually shifted towards keeping the younger metahumans in line. As time went on, White Star also began acting in a mentor role and trained government-sponsored metahumans.
In the twenty years that he was active, White Star achieved widespread renown for his role in many well-known and widely broadcasted events. Some notable events include:
* Known mentor of several First Wave Metahumans, such as the formidable Dr. Samson Strong, and the flame-wielding Captain Phoenix.
* Relief of major disasters, such as the rescue of the luxury liner Princess Margaret off the coast of San Diego.
* Battles with known rogue Metahumans, such as the climatic battle and defeat of the supervillain Nucleon in the North Sea.
Tragically, White Star disappeared four years ago when battling the supervillain Void in downtown Los Angeles; the two combatants disappeared through an inexplicable vortex that Void conjured.
Widely mourned, White Star remains a paragon of the First Wave Metas. Like a modern version of the legend of King Arthur, there is a persistent rumor that White Star will return in the hour of the world's greatest need, though cynics generally scoff at this.
