One of the reasons to go out in the world is for the fortune part of "fame
and fortune." While out there, there's no specific reason why a character
can't return with a bag filled to near-bursting with gold, gems, and
money. But, of course, there's no reason why no one else can't either.
And if everyone does, that fortune isn't worth very much since everyone
will be comparatively the same.

In traditional Table Top RP (and in many online games), the acquisition of
Wealth is a way of earning experience and buying cool stuff with which to
equip ones character. Jupiter's Childrens, however, doesn't have a
monetary system. Or an experience system. It has cooperation. If other
players believe that a character has the means to accomplish something,
whether that be buy a round of drinks in a bar, become a better pilot,
attain a higher level of proficiency with card games, or carry about an
high-tech doodad, then by all means it happens.

They just tend to ignore those that go overboard, or respond with "oh,
really?" and the occasional "yeah, right."
