The theme of Jupiter's Children is close to that of the darker sci-fi and
fantasy that has become popular in the last decade. Much like RL, it is
not a nice world in the IC realm. Out there in the playing area, one can
expect to find the usual range of human expression, good and bad. Since
the game focuses on deeply involving stories, some pretty wonderful and
some pretty horrible things can happen. The amount of power, whether
through technology, magic, strange powers, or wealth that is possible to
characters is quite expansive.
With great power comes great responsability.
And with power comes corruption.
Note, however, that is all about the Playing area. What happens Out
of Character should be kept polite, sensable, and generally below what
one would find in a PG-13 movie. This includes the OOC areas, the
comsystem, and the bboards. The Public channel, for example, is not
the place to share curse words or describe another player's sexual
preferences with animals. Innuendo can be fun, but it shouldn't go
overboard.
What happens between characters in RP is pretty much up to the
players, though some common-sense guidelines should be kept in mind.
Make sure the other players are comfortable with explicit behavior,
descriptions, and or poses (including sexual natura). Keep out of
character chatter polite and PG-rated. Be sure to communicate with
others. If other players don't like something, don't press them into it.
And be polite enough to refrain from RPing something nasty or naughty in
a public area where people can just wander through and get hit with it.
What this basically means is that the OOC side of the game is rated
PG, while the IC side is left unrated... This policy will stay in
effect until people abuse it. So keep it from being abused and have
fun RPing without restriction!
