Watch Star

Common Knowledge (IC):

Watchstar is made up of a group of secretive scientists, hackers, and
metas with "technological" powers. They use satellite surveillance to watch
over "places of interest," such as Los Angeles, for meta-human activities.
Often, recordings of those activities is sold to the highest bidder (often
to tabloid magazines or meta-related news outlets). The highest bidder
only receives temporary exclusive rights, though, as Watchstar eventually
makes all their imagery publicly available.

While most of the time their surveillance isn't much better than what is
seen on various Earth-web sites, it has the advantage of being real-time
rather than weeks or months old. Sometimes, however, the images appear to
be taken from quick close with a resolution high enough to clearly dis-
tinguish facial features, textures, and larger print.

Watchstar claims to be neutral, not providing their imagery for exclusive
use by any agency or person.

Uncommon Knowledge (OOC)

Watchstar was originally founded by a group of college students that through
a combination of meta-science and actual genius figured out how they could
use satellites for their own purposes. While it mostly started out to spy on
the girls at a nearby Fraternity, they quickly realized there could be some
real applications of their technology.

While none of the people that run Watch star are powerful, they have all
become fairly wealthy. They have also amassed a large amount of imagery
that they use for self-preservation, threats of release if anything happens
to their members. So far they have not resorted to blackmail with their
imagery. Their basic honesty has served them well as they have, in one way
or another, managed to anger most government agencies and powerful meta-
humans.

Right now they are a fairly reliable tool and seen as mostly harmless by
many.
