NUCLEON
One of the most powerful and dangerous Metas in the world, Nucleon is also one of the most enigmatic. Encased in a suit of regulation armor, Nucleon is a being of living atomic radiation who is feared for what he is: nuclear energy gone horribly wrong. The unhealthy green glow of radiation contrails that he gives off is a clear reminder to all who meet him, that battling Nucleon is a potentially lethal proposition.
That Nucleon is a First Wave Meta is a certainty, yet in the years he has made only two high profile appearances. The first was fifteen years ago, where Nucleon cleaned up the radiation in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine, allowing the area to be resettled. The second was a brutal attack on the U.S. naval base in San Diego. After sinking a frigate and a destroyer escort in port, Nucleon was engaged by the heroes Jack Flagg, Mystery Man and Crusher, all three of whom suffering severe injuries with Mystery Man and Crusher perishing in the battle. The popular hero Doctor Strong arrived on scene and was able to momentarily turn the tide of battle, until Nucleon's lethal radiation weakened the hero so much that even his impressive Meta powers failed him. It was only the timely arrival of White Star that allowed the two heroes to coordinate their efforts to defeat Nucleon by trapping him in the wreckage of the heavily damaged submarine, USS Providence, and then sinking it to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
Despite this heroic effort, a third incident occurred three years ago at Three Mile Island, where a Meta matching Nucleon's description allegedly contained a nuclear meltdown by shutting down the plant. Three Mile Island has not since been reactivated.
These contradictory actions made Nucleon a hero to some and a villain to others. He is an unregistered Meta with an unknown identity, and his goals and agenda are likewise mysteries. Nevertheless, the DMHA has tagged Nucleon as a potential Omega level risk, due to the nature of his atomic powers and the massive amount of collateral radiation damage that can conceivably result from his very presence.
