Morningstar

Morningstar is a young superheroine who has stepped into the media spotlight in a unique way: she is the daughter of the late White Star, and her decision to become a superheroine is backed entirely by the government, presumably sanctioned by the Department of Metahuman Affairs. It is also said that the government even provided training for Morningstar prior to her official debut.

Possessing meta powers similar to her father, Morningstar is a super-strong, super-tough heroine capable of self-powered flight. As of now, her power levels do not match those of her father, but it is surmised that she will eventually grow to similar levels. Her lack of experience is another thing that can be overcome with time, but in the meantime, she does her best to live up to her father's reputation.

Morningstar is strongly pro-U.S. government and a patriotic hero, often working with the authorities in dealing with anything from disaster relief to battling metahuman menaces. In particular, she has recently battled the supervillain Tamer on at least two occasions, and has developed a strong rivalry with the villain. It is rumored that Morningstar will be a prime candidate for recruitment for the Strikeforce project - if she isn't already a member of the program.

Out of the public spotlight, Morningstar is UCLA junior Meggan Winters, a political science major. Though by no means at the top of her class, her grades are more than passable and she expects to obtain her degree within the next 18 months. In her civilian guise, Meggan tries to be less outspoken and dress conservatively, in an attempt to hide her secret identity. While generally friendly and easy to get along in school, her duties as a superhero means her social life has suffered as a result.

What the public doesn't see is the insecure side of the young heroine. Growing up idolizing White Star, Meggan is entirely unprepared to deal with the loss of her her father and hero, and even less so to follow in his footsteps. Though she appears confident in public, Morningstar often doubts her ability to measure up to her father, and as a result has a tendency to overcompensate in everything she does. Her somewhat naive desire to become a symbol of "truth, justice and freedom" stems from this insecurity as much as her father's influence.
