Magic as it is generally thought of in fantasy and superhero games
doesn't exist in Jupiter's Children. Instead, magic is an individual
expression of a power. Every magical-type character is unique, though
a character may have the ability to allow others to share their power,
or gain similar powers. For most concepts, this is pretty transparent
and not much of a distinction. For others it can become quite important
and may influence play later.

The main thing to remember is that if a character concept is based on a
fantasy-ish wizard, that character has a unique power that causes him to
appear like a fantasy-ish wizard. The basis could be the character has
an amount of 'raw' power that they channel with specific words and
gestures, which makes them pretty much seem the same as a wizard. The
distinction is that any other fantasy-ish character do not share a common
fantasy-themed source of magic. These wizards would not be able to teach
each other "spells", for example, though they may learn to mimic another.

Likewise, characters based on mythical and magical creatures are pretty
much unique. Just because Tony is a werewolf doesn't mean he has anything
in common with Angelica the werewolf.

There is a little lee-way and fudging involved, but the primary thing to
think about is that every character is pretty much unique. One major
exception is if players decide they want to be 'linked' together. In this
case, the powers they possess have a common origin, or one character may
have created the powers in another.
