Edward Covings, Jr. (PC) is the CEO of Genetic Improvement Corporation. It specializes in creating and manufacturing consumer goods and has a few private military contracts. The company has a campus in Los Angeles, sequestered from the rest of the city. Interestingly, the company was run by other heads until very recently. The company was in fact created by Edward's father, but he died when his private plane crashed over the ocean near Tokyo, Japan seventeen years ago. Edward, only three at the time, was aboard that plane and though his body was not discovered, it was believed he was killed in the crash as well.
His return to America as an adult and the legal reclamation of his father's company has been a huge media story. The company, extremely successful in America as a national corporation, is poised for the Covings, Jr. era and as his initial decisions showed excellent business savvy, the stock price of GIC has indeed risen dramatically.
