The Cult of Jupiter was created in Los Angeles by Doctor Angus Singh. Dr. Singh claimed he was Agnostic before the Jupiter Effect but afterwards says he found God, and God is Jupiter. Singh and his cult have published documents that claim to be scientific fact but are, in fact, simply religious doctrine, widely shot down by legitimate scientists especially those at NASA. These documents have gained the Cult a world-wide following, with several churches opening around the world, though they are small with no congregation larger than thirty people, often drawing those in from large areas.

The basic precepts of the Cult is that the Metas are the Gods (yes, plural) granting their powers to mortal man. Just as Prometheus gave humans fire according to the Greek Myths, Singh believes that the Jupiter Effect was a favorable judgment from the Gods, who observed the human race and found it worthy. He sites the rapid advancement of science as further proof that the Gods have unraveled more of their mysteries and have granted such knowledge to mortal man, though scientologists argue that it is just mortal man making scientific discoveries. The philosophical conflicts between the Vatican, the Cult of Jupiter, and the Scientologists have not yet resulted in bloodshed, but many are wondering if the next Jihad will have nothing at all to do with the Muslims.

Cultists of Jupiter revere all Jupiter Effected people, believing them to be personally evolved by the Gods. They feel that Jupiter Effected are above concepts like good and evil, and thus will always seek to help them. If two Jupiter Effected are in conflict, the Cult stays out of it and believes everyone else should too. This makes the actions of Cultists inconsistent. They will help an evil Jupiter Effected commit whatever crime they want help with, but they will jump into a burning building and save innocents if a Jupiter Effected hero does so. They are odd, and completely fanatical, and Dr. Singh is very much in control of the Cult of Jupiter.
